Event Organiser and Local Co-ordinator, Stef Sargent

Stef created the Hebridean Challenge in 2000/01 with LAMM organiser Martin Stone. She has been its driving force since then. She is the organiser of the race with an overall co-ordinating role, and also deals with local issues, such as access, negotiations with local bodies, hall committees, safety boats, etc.

Stef also handles entries and enquiries. As a BCU level 3 Coach (Sea) with good local knowledge (also an RYA Dinghy Coach), she is particularly able to answer questions about the sea-kayaking aspect of the race. She will forward questions on to Paul or Jeff as appropriate.

Stef is a member of HM Coastguard Stornoway Cliff Rescue Team and works as a teacher in a local school. She holds the WEMT advanced first aid qualification from Glenmore Lodge (refresher Oct 2005).
